Mobile App

An interactive app for the Olympics.

What is kShuttle?

KShuttle, a global company, offers SOC-certified software for reporting and compliance with new international regulations.

About the App

Create a mobile app around a unifying event to see how the product interacts with the new version of kShuttle. A dynamic app designed to elevate engagement around a special event, where enthusiasts come together daily to connect, strategize, and play alongside teammates.

My Role

As a UX/UI Designer, I conducted user research to identify user needs and ideate the most effective solutions, turning these into prototypes. By leveraging iterative user testing and feedback, I refined and validated the designs before handing them off to the engineering team for implementation.

Feedbacks

User

"I’m excited to check the predictions every day, vote, and see if I’m right by the end of the day."

User

"I love that I can create our own group with my friends, share the excitement, track our rankings, and celebrate together as we take on these challenges!”

Mission

  • Develop a prototype mobile app (deployed internally) to evaluate the performance of the new version of kShuttle, focusing on REST API, authentication, and updates.

  • Conduct a full-scale test using the app, designed around a unifying theme.

Research Goals

We want to investigate the key factors that motivate users to return to an app, in order to understand how to implement gamification strategies that enhance user retention.

User Interviews

→ How do people engage daily with their routine, especially in gamification apps?

→ How do users interact with the social experience in a game to enhance retention?

5 individuals were interviewed (2 software developers from kShuttle and 3 external people from kShuttle).

All interviews were conducted remotely using Google Meet.

-> Expectations/Findings

  • Users want to feel daily progression and become highly invested.

“I want to come back every day to complete my daily routine and earn my daily badge.”

  • Users want to feel connected with their teammates.

“I could compete with friends, made it even more engaging and kept me coming back

  • Users like the reward points system.

“the rewards system made me feel like I was really progressing

Persona

The persona was created based on interviews conducted.

The persona faithfully represents primary users, capturing their expectations, motivations, and frustrations.

The goal is to guide design decisions and ensure that every feature and visual element precisely addresses their needs.

Cameron

OBJECTIVES

Cameron wants to feel that she is actively participating in this event by predicting France's performances and medal chances in each competition.

MOTIVATIONS

Competing with her friends in a fun and stimulating environment.

Predicting athletes' performances and feeling that she has good sports knowledge.

FUSTRATIONS

An app that lacks fluidity or is difficult to navigate.

Lack of responsiveness if scores and rankings are not updated in real-time.

Information Architecture

The sitemap step made me realize how crucial it was to understand how the app works and where to place each feature within the flow.

The main features are highlighted in orange.

Wireframes

The user flow is a visual or narrative representation of the specific steps a user follows to complete a task when interacting with a product or service.

We chose to create user flows to focus on:

Check vote for today’s predictions

Check vote distribution

See the past predictions

Check the ranking

User Tests

The user tests were conducted by a group of users evaluating the prototype of the app's first version.

→ How do people interact with the prototype following the task journey above?

5 individuals were interviewed (2 software developers from kShuttle and 3 external people from kShuttle).

All interviews were conducted remotely using Google Meet.

Customer Journey Map

A customer journey map was created based on insights gathered from user tests of the app's first version.
